9-17-08 Assignment/ "Technology Standards for Administrator, Teachers, and Students"
These are very interesting reads for administrators, teachers and all students.
1. Yes, I do consider that the administrator standards need to parallel the teacher standards. However, the standard requirements of the educator and the student need to be taken to an even a higher level and a step further. It is crucial that the administrator is supportive of the educator and formulates the means for funds to be available for the educator to advance his/her learning of technology. It is important for the classrooms to be up to date with equipment and technology to utilize. The educators should be up on the most state of the art information and their ability to model the necessary learning techniques for the students is essential.
2. Yes, the administrators themselves must be able to utilize and model the technology. Only if the majority of the administration and staff are knowledgeable about technology and able to use technology can there e good data to formulate proof to acquire additional technology for the school and the community.
3. The administrator standards are good standards. However, there are items that need to be addressed. Where will the money come from to up date all the schools and to educate all that need additional training? How do we get teachers involved with furthering their education in technology, if they do not want or are fearful of the use of technology? And, other situations that could deter the standards from working and being adhered to.
